Adult Ministries

At South Avenue our programs for adults promote fellowship, spiritual growth and seek to meet the unique meeds of every person.

Sunday School:

Sunday School is the largest and perhaps the most important organization for adults at South Avenue. There are Sunday School Departments for each age group from collage age to senior adults. Sunday School classes study the Bible, of course, but also are the center of fellowship and ‘belonging’ in the church.
Sunday School meets at 9:45 AM each Sunday.

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir help lead worship each Sunday, sings anthems, and presents special programs at Christmas and Easter each year. The adult choir is the heart of the music and worship program at South Avenue. The only requirement is a love for music and singing. Choir Practice is Sunday nights at 7:00 PM after Sunday Evening Worship. See David Truitt for more information.

Senior Adults

In addition to Sunday School, Senior Adults at South Avenue meet once a month for food and fun. Senior Adult Game Day is from 10 AM until every one leaves on the first Monday of each month in the fellowship hall (Building 2). Seniors enjoy a pot luck meal and play games (mostly 42 and ‘train’) and just have a good time of fellowship.

Women's Ministry

The Women's Ministry is active and busy planning events that will enrich our members and provide spiritual growth.  Events have included a Women's Retreat, game nights, a Christmas Banquet, Women's Bible Studies, Scrapbooking, Bunko and much more.  The women's ministry is also active in working to support local charities and missions. Watch for announcements in the weekly worship program or contact the Church office or  see Sharon Cochran for details.

Mothers Night Out

Mother's of young children enjoy an evening of fellowship and fun once a month. Childcare is provided while young mother's gather with older female church members to learn and share in joys and challenges of motherhood. Meetings are held in member's homes or sometimes an evening out is planned to the movies and/or dinner. Dates are announced in advanced.

Widows Friendship Circle

The Friendship Circle is a group of women from South Avenue who meet together monthly for the purposes of fellowship, sharing, prayer and support in dealing with the death of their spouses.  Other occasional activities are planned. Contact the office or Linda Overton for details
